Sean Jones, Candidate for General Grand Principal Conductor of the Work

By Most Illustrious Companion Sean Jones
Past Most Illustrious Grand Master, Grand Council of Indiana

Sean Wayne Jones
Most Illustrious Grand Master
Grand Council of Indiana

Greetings Companions,

My name is Sean Jones, I am a Past Most Illustrious Grand Master from the State of Indiana in the United States of America. I served the Companions of Indiana as Most Illustrious during 2021-2022. I am hoping to serve the Companions Internationally by being elected as the next General Grand Principal Conductor of the Work. I have been extremely active in Masonry and especially York Rite Masonry.

I feel that it is important to promote Cryptic Masonry to the Craft in general to illustrate how the York Rite, but especially the Cryptic Rite preserved Ancient Craft Masonry. In order to help do this, I feel that different educational tools need to be available to you from the General Grand Council and I hope to be able to be a part of providing those to you. Different jurisdictions need different tools, so it is very important that I listen to all jurisdictions so I can help provide the things that you need in your jurisdictions.

Outside of Masonry, I have held leadership and management positions to help further the goals of both public and private organizations. I have learned how to work with many different people from different knowledge bases and backgrounds. Everyone comes to the table with a unique set of experiences and ideas. My training has taught me how to gather those ideas and help form them to meet the goals of the group. Communication is KEY to any organization and I will work to improve the communication of the General Grand Council.

Part of the responsibility of the General Grand Council is to spread the knowledge of Cryptic Masonry and to help form new Grand Councils around the globe. This is important work and can only be achieved by working together with our Companions from the General Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. Communication and cooperation between the General Grand Council and the General Grand Chapter must improve for the betterment of the Craft. I have good relationships with the General Grand Chapter Leadership, and I am looking forward to working with them to promote our gentle craft.

I read a quote years ago from George Bernard Shaw and it sums up how I feel, especially about Cryptic Masonry. “This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments, and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.”

Fraternally,

Sean Jones
