The Work of Cryptic Masons

Freemasonry seeks to improve the community by improving the individual. Therefore, Councils of Cryptic Masons can be found working with Lodges, Chapters, and Commanderies to provide more opportunities to improve one’s skills in leadership, public speaking, interpersonal relationships, and administration. This empowers the individual Mason to become a better leader in his career, church, and community. Councils also work with other Masonic groups in community service projects to demonstrate Masonic teachings as a way of life.

The General Grand Council established the Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation to give Cryptic Masons an opportunity to turn Masonic philosophy into a living practice. Currently, the Foundation is working with medical researchers to find ways to prevent atherosclerosis, or more commonly known as hardening of the arteries. This work places thousands of dollars annually into the necessary research to stop one of our nation’s largest killer, atherosclerosis and heart disease.

The Cryptic Masons Medical Research Foundation (CMMRF) is the philanthropy of the General Grand Council and many Cryptic Masons across the globe. CMMRF is responsible for cutting edge research to develop novel therapeutics and diagnostics for patient care. CMMRF supports the Indiana Center for Vascular Biology and Medicine, (ICVBM), located at Indiana University School of Medicine and the Richard Roudebush Veteran’s Administration Medical Center located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Through the basic and clinical research conducted by ICVBM and supported by CMMRF, advancements are being made to discover cures for many of today’s health problems, prevent major diseases, and ultimately save lives.

Indiana University has erected a “Partners in Discovery” display which highlights the achievements that ICVBM has accomplished thanks to the support provided by Cryptic Freemasons.
